Great series.

I just can't help but love Mark Vincent. He is big, intimidating, and completely head over heels for Julia. As the fraud investigation from the previous book continues and Julia tries to adjust to the fallout, things in Mercer suddenly heat up even further. Someone is out to get Mark and Julia by any means necessary, even murder. So much is happening that it it's difficult for the couple to determine whether the new danger is connected to the fraud case or another issue altogether. On the good side, Mark and Julia finally begin to realize and admit how much they mean to each other. I also love that Mark, in all his alpha maleness, wants to protect Julia at all costs yet still makes himself trust her capabilities and work together with her despite the risks. Although I enjoyed the sweet little bit of resolution in the final chapter, I hated that the story ended where it did with so much still hanging over them. Now I have to wait for the next book.

Tightly woven and complex. Great!

Loved it! In Shock Loss, now that her sisters case has been resolved, Julia is trying to put her career back together. A tornado in another county has pulled Mark Vincent and most of the state insurance fraud investigators out of town so she has a chance at a paying job but a call from her old boss throws her life into chaos again. Someone is not only threatening her life, but Vincent's and the jerks. So many things are going wrong that it is obvious someone in power is manipulating the law and making sure that evidence disappears.

While I love the books as a whole and the plots a intriguing, one of the biggest draws for me is the growing relationship between Julie and Mark Vincent. She is calling him Mark more. I don't think that spoiler will bother anyone.

Julia and Mark are back in the 5th book in the southern fraud series, I've been patiently waiting for this book! It couldn't have been any better Julia and Mark are fighting to keep themselves out of jail and to find out who is behind the death of there boss Ted! Julia and Marks relationship takes a big step forward as does Marks relationship with his son Justin. Only one book left in the series can't wait to see how it all ends! I highly recommend this series but you should definitely read them in order!

Entertaining Mystery

This was a very entertaining read. The plot has a few threads that eventually all tie together, some of which are both scary and believable, especially when it comes to questioning our border security. I also liked the characters, even though Jake sometimes comes across as a stereotypical P.I. from a 1950's movie. However, I get the feeling that is what the author intended and it works in this case. If you're a fan of an easy reading mystery, then 'Swoop & Squat' will fill the bill quite nicely.

As for a reviewer stating the book is full of typos, I'm not sure what that is about as I only found a few, which is not uncommon in a first edition anyway and certainly didn't detract from the reading experience for me. Also, last I checked, this is a work of fiction and is obviously intended to be both an easier read and entertaining. I liken it to an 'Indiana Jones' movie as it has a few twists and plenty of action, but it's not going to win an Oscar anytime soon. But then again, it's not supposed to. Just grab your popcorn and start reading, you won't be disappointed...

Wanted to read the book

I had read "The Sheik" and seen the movie "The Son of the Sheik" so really wanted to read "The Sons of the Sheik". In retrospect it would have made an interesting film following the sons of the Sheik instead of concentrating on one son. In the book they are twins, one is brought up in England, the other in the desert. They meet and the ensuing story line is dramatic and exciting. Totally enjoyable. I love reading the old stories.

About the Author
Peter Mathews has spent 30 years as a College and University Professor educating people. Born into a family of educators, his father was a university professor and clinical psychologist, and his mother, a teacher. At an early age, Mathews learned the value of human dignity and to cherish education. This has molded his beliefs about the role of government in the world today. Peter Mathews is a professor of Political Science at Cypress College, has taught at California State University, Fullerton, is currently a guest host on KPFK radio 90.7 FM and Political Analyst on KFI radio AM 640 Sunday Morning News. He has served as a Political Analyst on KNBC-TV, KCBS-TV, KTLA-TV, CNN radio, KTLK radio, KPFA and KPFK radio, and as a commentator on KNX News Radio and other venues. His columns have been published in the Long Beach area Press Telegram, online Orange County Register, and Random Lengths News. Having lived, traveled, taught and conducted research in 27 countries such as Britain, France, Denmark, Germany, Canada, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, India and elsewhere, Mathews has first-hand knowledge of public policy issues such as healthcare, education, economic development, and international relations, and environmental sustainability in these and other societies. Peter Mathews was the Democratic Party Nominee for the U.S. Congress in 1998 and ran a close race in the Long Beach based district. Peter Mathews moved to Los Angeles County in 1979 and has been a resident and homeowner in Long Beach for 21 years, where he lives with his wife Toya Baker-Mathews and daughter Page.

Remembering Who We Are

This book is potent. It demystifies the reasons behind an unresponsive dis-functional government and clearly outlines the path for fixing it. The reader is encouraged to participate and become part of the solutions; and the solutions are not that complicated. Peter Mathews brings politics back to life, and reminds us of what America is supposed to be: A land of opportunity and of community. He reminds us that WE are the government and WE, (all of us,) must take back control. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and the world. We are Americans. We need to remember what that means, and begin once again, to act like it.

A great manga starter book

I received this book as a gift from my sister, I like to draw and I love manga so I was curious about it and started it immediately. The introduction mainly tells you about the history of manga, different types of manga, and then you get different art techniques and tips which was actually really helpful, before a big section with over 100 lessons on drawing different parts of the anatomy, and then lessons on drawing everything you learned into a character! It even has a game to integrate different styles.

Pros:
1. It's very well laid out and easy to follow, I'm not naturally talented, but the book is not confusing for me and the steps are all there, no "Draw a circle - now draw the rest of the owl" type stuff. Very clear instructions, line by line drawing, techniques, everything that can actually show you how to get from point A. to point B. And with your own work!

2. Everything is adorable. Usually when you buy a how-to-draw book it's a little bit intimidating, but this one's very easy going, the art is fun and very well done, and adds to the instructions rather than just being there to show you how much the artist is better than you.

3. I really like that the artist has a YouTube channel with additional instructions

4. The information on drawing eyes, hands, and faces is really extensive, more so than I was expecting. Because these are all difficult parts for me, the extra time and lessons were very much appreciated.

5. The book is surprisingly big, there are lots of lessons. It says 128 pages but every page is huge, and you get drawing lessons on each one.

6. The game is a lot of fun, and really great if you're like me and don't know what to draw

7. I can definitely draw manga characters using this book

Cons:
1. I will have to buy more art supplies. The tips on inking and different types of pencils really make me want to up my game.
2. While there are a ton of lessons, I do wish it had a bit more information on drawing outfits,

10/10 would buy again. I'm already seeing improvements on my manga style, and I can't wait to keep practicing.

Colorful, fun, easy to follow and informative. Highly recommended (especially to beginners)!

This book is well put together and I highly recommend it.

The instructions are easy to understand and is packed with useful little tips for improving your manga drawings. The pages are filled with step-by-step illustrations to help beginners follow along with the instructions. You never get lost between steps and the chapters/content is well organized to help with your progression.

Aside from demonstrating the basics on how to draw manga characters (normal sized and chibi), the book covers a variety of topics such as
- creating hair styles
- drawing clothing details properly
- mapping facial expressions correctly
- manga inking and shading techniques
- idea generation for interesting and unique characters
- creating polished pictures
- creating well constructed manga pages with multiple panels

I'm satisfied with my purchase. ^_^

I love it

I don't have a lot of experience with how to draw manga books but this one is exactly what I was hoping for! I think it's worth the money just for the art if you like chibis and manga. Cute drawings on every page.The fire athlete is so hot! The instructions are easy to follow, lots of step by step and I didn't get lost once, and everything was so much fun, I really wish I could go get in person lessons now. I follow Mistiqarts on YouTube which is why I pre-ordered it and then it arrived a full month before it said it would ship. I was really surprised by how big the book is, it says it's only 128 pages but there are a LOT of lessons and they're all really big and easy to see, not like the little pocket drawing guides you see a lot. Super excited so far and I can't wait to draw something else.

About the Author
Professor Wolfgang DemtrAder studied physics and mathematics, and received his PhD degree in 1961 from the University of Bonn. After working as an assistant professor and researcher at the University of Freiburg until 1967, he went as a visiting fellow to JILA in Boulder, Colorado. In 1970 he accepted a post as full professor at the newly founded University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he still works. Professor DemtrAder was awarded the Max-Born-Award of the English and German Physical Society in 1995. He is the author of about 150 scientific papers and several books.
